For National Literacy Month, Schumann Printers, Inc. hosted a local “Books for Kids” donation from Sept. 16th – Sept. 27th, benefiting The Madison Reading Project. The Madison Reading Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 and located in Madison, WI. Their mission is to deliver high-quality literacy learning reinforcement programs to underserved children, engaging them in differentiated literacy activities designed to create not only a love of learning but build and reinforce age-appropriate skills needed to develop the young reader.
“As a company that understands the significant and tangible impact print makes every day, we were excited to host a book drive to help put books in kids’ hands,“ said Brooke Schumann, SPI Director of Marketing.
The surrounding local community donated new or gently used books in English, Spanish, or Hmong for ages birth to teens. Donation locations were at Schumann Printers, Inc. on 701 S Main Street and Beautique Nails & Spa on 205 N Spring Street.
We aspired to get 200 books donated, and we are happy to share that we exceeded our goal and received 1,215 donated books.
Thank you to everyone for donating and for your support to help improve children’s literacy.
