FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED
Our reputation as one of the nation’s leading commercial printing and mailing service companies wasn’t earned overnight. For the past 60 years, three generations of the Schumann family have dedicated themselves to making Jack Schumann’s dream of creating a world-class printing and binding company a reality. From its humble beginnings in Jack’s basement, bringing in just enough to stay afloat, Schumann Printers has risen to prominence for its cutting-edge technology, sustainable printing processes, and exceptional customer service.
“There is a monument to the Great American Dream in Fall River. People call it Schumann Printers.” — Columbus Journal, Feb. 20, 1989

OUR HISTORY
After working for a Madison, WI, printing company for five years, Jack Schumann came home one evening and told his wife he was ready to be his own boss. Just one person — the president of Fall River Bank — was willing to bet on Jack’s new business. And so, in 1963, Schumann Printers was launched in the basement of Jack’s new Fall River home.
The Schumann’s struggled those first few years, earning barely enough to stay afloat. But Jack’s vision — to utilize the latest in commercial printing technology while also building strong printing partnerships with customers — soon paid off. Today, Schumann Printers employs over 150 employees and operates out of a vast 50 acre campus, just a few miles from where Jack first pursued his American dream.

1963 - Jack Schumann, founder of Schumann Printers, began sheetfed printing in the basement of his family duplex in Fall River, WI.

1966 - Schumann Printers was incorporated in the state of Wisconsin, and became known as Schumann Printers, Inc.

1970 - Schumann Printers, Inc. built their first 5,000 sq. ft. building at their present location, employing about 35 employees in the next few years. Sons of Jack, Dan (right) and Mark (left), hang the letters on the newly built building.

1982 - Putting an end to its sheetfed printing, Schumann Printers, Inc. shifted their focus to heat-set web printing specializing in publications.

1993 - Expanded another 37,500 sq. ft. to allow for 4 additional presses and some bindery space.

1995 - Schumann’s built a 40,000 sq. ft. storage warehouse on their property (Swarthout Road) to accommodate all the paper needed for increased runs. The employee workforce grew to 170.

1999 - On Swarthout Road, a 60,000 sq. ft. addition was built to house all finishing and distribution equipment. Today, it is known as the Bindery.

2008 - Schumann Printers, Inc. purchased the Goss Sunday 3000.

2016 - Dan Schumann and Mark Schumann continue the legacy of ongoing innovation and environmental conscientiousness that Jack set out from the company’s origins.

2020 - Dan and Mark Schumann continue their father’s legacy of excellence, winning awards such as the Best of Category GLGA Graphic Excellence Awards, among many others.

SUSTAINABILITY
We’ve been on the forefront of sustainable printing practices for years, and our third generation of Schumann leaders are expanding our efforts. From biodegradable coffee packaging to converting all building lights to LED, we’re finding countless ways to make a difference. Our efforts have been recognized by several organizations including Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy Award for developing an HVAC system that recycles the heat from our presses.
We were recently recognized by Industrial Towel and Uniform for pollution prevention and waste reduction. We also use green products, including soy/vegetable-based inks, ecological solvents, and we recycle all scrap paper. Finally, we strive to work with vendors and other partners who share our values.
